Season selection for 2024 – our 37th season of bold new work – is open and happening now!
For nearly 40 years, we’ve produced brand-new plays, ensemble-generated non-linear spectacles, radical interpretations of classic texts, and dynamic solo shows.
Our stage is ready and open again for art, and we want to see your work on our stage!
As producers and artists, we intentionally uphold a specific set of values and insist that the work we produce upholds these values as well. Annex Theatre’s Values:
World-premiere (We like Pacific Northwest premieres too)
Big, cheap theatre (Minimal budget but BIG spectacle)
Relevance to modern themes and issues
Risk (Would this play be produced anywhere else right now?)
Diversity, equity, and inclusion for those onstage and off
Opportunities for Annex company members to direct, design, perform, and develop as artists
All productions have PWYC (pay-what-you-can) ticketing option*
If these values sound like a good fit, then you should fill out a proposal!
Annex is entirely volunteer run and we currently offer a stipend of $150 to artists in our productions.
*PWYC starts at $5 for most shows. Thursdays and Preview start at $0. Livestream is PWYC/free to watch technically, otherwise suggested ticket price is $10.
Annex Theatre is accepting proposals for the following production opportunities:
LIVE+ HYBRID
With a Live+ hybrid theatre production you can produce a show that is presented to a live audience in the theater and streamed to viewers at home over the internet!
It's "live theatre" that you can share with a few thousand of your closest friends every night.
Ticketing: Available for both in-person and online attendance. Streamed performances will be recorded and preserved--and potentially made available for audiences to view post-closing!
WORKS IN PROGRESS (WIP)
The Works in Progress (WIP) option gives you the ability to experiment with your work on stage with minimal production needs. Imagine the potential of a theatrical space with no live audience in attendance. Perhaps you'd like to utilize areas of the theater other than the stage for performance, explore the different camera techniques or televise your reading internationally!
Ticketing: Available for online attendance with option for in-person.
